Background
Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio is a 501(c)3 non-profit chemical dependency/mental health organization with a focus on inidividuals with co-occurring chemical dependency and mental health diagnosis that is governed by a Board of Directors which represents a cross-section of constituencies throughout the Williams, Fulton, Henry and Defiance County area.
The Board of Directors is responsible for overall direction and control of the organization. The Board of Directors believes that effective service to individuals with chemical dependency/mental health challenges must include a comprehensive array of prevention, education and treatment services. The Executive Director reports to and is accountable to the Board of Directors of the organization. Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio, with its development of a full range of services, has assumed a leadership role in developing and implementing a community wide support system to address the chemical dependency/mental health needs of Williams, Fulton, Henry and Defiance County residents. Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio works collaboratively with area hospitals, social service providers, human services providers, criminal justice system, other professional organizations and key stakeholders to insure the availability of a full continuum of services and an effective community support system to address the special needs of the Northwest Ohio area and the populations served.
A History of Continued Success
Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio, formerly known as Five County Alcohol/Drug Program has provided outpatient alcohol/drug treatment and prevention services since 1975. In our commitment to continually enhance the quality of our services our agency has experienced many changes such as the following:
- 1999 - Serenity Haven, a 16 bed women's residential program opened in Fayette, Ohio.
- 2004 - Fresh Start Homes, a men's long term residential program merged with our agency, then known as Five County Alcohol/Drug Program. The program is still located in Alvordton, Ohio.
- 2004 - The agency was certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health, allowing the provision of mental health services, which includes dual diagnosis treatment, psychiatric services, anger management and case management.
- 2005 - The agency was certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities CARF.
- 2007 - April 20th, the main office site moved to the Gene Smart Community Center at 511 Perry St. Defiance, Ohio
- 2007 - April 20th, the agency's name was officially changed to Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio to reflect the changes and additions of our services and our mission.
Mission
The mission of Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio is to provide prevention education, outpatient and residential chemical dependency/mental health services with a focus on individuals with co-occurring chemical dependency and mental health diagnosis. We believe ongoing recovery should be based on the principles of abstinence and community based support groups.
